Keeping your dryer working well

Even though you may clean the lint filter from your dryer and it looks clean and clear, it may not be. The lint filter is made of a mesh material and can get clogged from dryer sheet residue.

Try this test, take the filter and run hot water over it. If the water doesn't pass through, it is because there is film from your dryer sheets. This can burn out the heating unit, and can also cause your dryer unit to catch fire.

The best way to keep your dryer working for a long time and keep your electric bill in check is to take the filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. This can double the life of the dryer!
